Note: This piece was shaped by our desire to listen and respond to ourselves, to each other, and to what emerged in the space between us. Guided by the voice of Joni Mitchell, we explored these themes through both set and improvised movement and free writing. What you’re witnessing tonight is a constellation of those explorations.

Intermission
“Swallowed by Echos”
Choreography: Maxi Riley
Music: “Odi et Amo – Remastered” Jóhann Jóhannsson, “Hapatus” Pan Sonic
Dancers: Orange Group
Note: “Swallowed by Echos” explores the depths inside of an echo. I believe there are always various components existing simultaneously. There’s repetition, circularity, acceleration, memory, curiosity. There’s also disruption, spiraling, resistance and annoyance. Echos envelop the space, leaving traces of what once existed and how they existed, while also transcending the physical dimensions of where it generates. The piece juxtaposes all these ideas through motifs of unison, shape, direction, recurrence and duplication, relationship, speed, and physical exhaustion.
“Beautiful, burning”
Choreography: Gianna Burright (created in collaboration with the dancers)
Music: “Gotham Lullaby” Meredith Monk Featuring Björk with the Brodsky Quartet
Musical Arrangement by Natalie Finfer
Dancers: Blue Group
Note: Over the course of the last 9 days we have been researching how to be both heavy and light, physically, mentally, emotionally.
“ReSTRUCTURALLY sound”

Assistant: Kylee Killian courtesy of Open Space Dance

Note: The space between.
“OVERDRIVE”
