SALT’s Commitment to Equality

 In Uncategorized

SALT participated in #BlackOutTuesday – a movement to encourage people to strengthen their knowledge on contemporary race relations. SALT stands in solidarity with the black community and whole-heartedly commits to anti-racist values.

SALT’s mission states that we believe in using dance as a salve for social plagues, and we are taking this time to reflect, examine, and take action to support BIPOC. Today, we raise our voice in support of transformation and embracing difficult dialogue. This is a conversation that we intend to embrace with a commitment to continue learning and make progress towards change within ourselves, organization, and community.

SALT is taking the following actions:

  • Monthly donation to The Wooden Floor, a nonprofit that transforms the lives of young people in low-income communities through the power of dance. The Wooden Floor’s holistic model serves 475 under-served students year-round, after-school with dance, academic, college and career readiness, and family support programs, free of charge.100% of students who graduate from The Wooden Floor immediately enroll in higher education. Our students become change agents and beacons of hope within their own families, their neighborhoods, our community, and our world. Learn more at
  • Monthly donations to The International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD), a nonprofit that assists and increases opportunities for artists in advocacy, audience development, education, funding, networking, performance, philosophical dialogue, and touring. IABD uses its voice to advocate for policies benefiting the Black dance and the wider arts and culture sectors. Learn more at
  • Providing scholarships for people of color to LINK Audition Festival, SALT workshops, and our training companies.
  • Provide scholarships to refugees to our SHAPE choreography festival, in partnership with the Refugee & Immigrant Center and the Asian Association of Utah.

We see you. We value you. We grieve with you.

Please join us in supporting these amazing organizations.
